Unirea’s Junior Folkloric Dancing Group

The Unirea’s Junior Folk Group is the junior group of the Unirea Folk Dance Ensemble, with numerous children members, aged between 5-16 years. The group is working in the frame of the Unirea Brisbane Folk Art School. Beside the acquirement of folk dances, the group also aims at showing the traditions on stage, giving wide view to the entire complexity of dances, songs, costumes and customs. Our very talented instructor Monica Popa is the main force of our community in continuing this activity.

The group was formed in January 2012 by the committee members of UNIREA - Australian Romanian Community Inc. For the first 6 months the group was taught by Gheorghe Tundrea & Mariana Tundrea. The group is now led by Monica Popa with help from some members. The group performs suites and choreographies from the many ethnographic regions of Romania. The group regularly performs for the UNIREA - Australian Romanian Community Inc, at all of the Romanian Balls,  and at other Romanian cultural events.
